If anything ever had a warm patina
In the case of this one--which is in very good shape
and perhaps especially the rendering of the seated cross-legged next to his campfire int he background
as there are two small holes in one of its paws
I've been very into watching hummingbirds buzz around this summer
James H. Adaire, Spencerian Birds and Banner, Ink and Crayon Drawing, 1905, Spring Grove PA gold beaded If anything ever had aA few more today by a young J. H Adaire of Spring Grove, PA, dated 1905 I bought and sold a handful a month or two ago, then just went back to the seller to scoop up a handful more. Just my sort of drawings. This one feels like a bit of a hybrid very Spencerian in the style of the birds and banners, but with a very Pennsylvania folk art sense of color! Lovely. 9" x 5 1 2" and in good condition, with wonderful strong and bold color.
